A decrease in the number of reviews can concern a business, but it doesn’t, on its own, determine the cause. Google can remove contributions that violate its rules, and reviews can also be delayed. It’s important to distinguish what you observe from a supposed explanation of the moderation system.
Document the change before reaching a conclusion.
Note the date, the number of reviews before and after the drop, and the specific comments when you can identify them. Make sure you are looking at the correct profile. A merge, a profile change, or a display issue should be distinguished from the deletion of content.
Consult the document from a different session to compare the public display. Save any useful screenshots, but do not publish the personal data of clients. A precise history will be more useful than an estimate of the number of missing reviews.
Check the documented causes.
Google explains that some reviews are removed due to violations of the rules, and that their publication may be delayed due to checks. Refer to the official help on missing reviews, as well as the rules regarding contributions. A good rating, on its own, does not guarantee compliance.
Review your practices: gifts in exchange for reviews, copied content, requests made to employees, or selecting only satisfied clients – these are areas that need correction. Conversely, don’t assume that an authentic review is fraudulent simply because it has disappeared.
Preparing a helpful request for assistance
Compile the information for the case – including the relevant documentation, dates, screenshots, and a factual description of the problem. Utilize the assistance pathway indicated by Google for the specific situation. Avoid repeating requests without new information, and do not promise clients a restoration within a specific timeframe.
Continue the activity without circumventing the checks.
Do not create new entries solely to collect feedback, and do not ask multiple accounts to repost the same text. Continue to improve the service and respond to visible contributions. Requests to leave feedback should remain free, impartial, and without any exchange.
This article does not refer to a general rate of reduction for 2025 or 2026 – a figure derived from a sample does not necessarily reflect your establishment. No collection rate, tool, or comment format guarantees that a particular opinion will be published or retained.
