Making it easier for customers to share their feedback can help a restaurant gather more reviews. However, this doesn’t guarantee an increase in ratings or the number of reviews received. The initiative should remain voluntary, accessible to all customers, and independent of any reward.
Make it easy to find the right link.
Use the link to submit your feedback from your Google profile. Test it on a phone and ensure it corresponds to the correct establishment. You can present it as a QR code on a readable support, or add it to a follow-up message tailored to the situation.
Avoid unnecessary steps. A customer shouldn't have to complete a satisfaction questionnaire before being able to choose Google. Regularly check printed materials and links, especially when managing multiple locations.
To formulate a neutral invitation.
A straightforward wording is sufficient: “Thank you for your visit. If you wish, you can share your experience on Google. Let the customer decide when, how, and what to say. They don’t need to write their review in front of staff.”
Explain to the team how to handle a refusal gracefully. Do not tie a bonus to a specific grade, number of reviews, or mention of an employee. The primary focus should remain on providing a positive experience, not on generating public recognition.
Welcome also negative feedback.
Do not simply direct satisfied customers to Google while keeping other customers in a private form. You can offer a contact channel to resolve an issue, but it should not prevent or discourage the publication of a negative review.
Respond carefully to any criticism and seek an independent solution, avoiding any potential modification of the feedback. Do not offer gifts, discounts, or anything in exchange for a review, even if you don’t require a five-star rating.
Follow the results with realistic expectations.
Over several weeks, track new feedback, the themes expressed, and the problems resolved. Consider the number of clients served and the season. Simply changing the counter is not enough to prove that the service or online presence has improved.
There isn’t a universal conversion rate that allows you to directly link a local request to a subsequent message. Test effective and respectful materials, and avoid overwhelming people with multiple requests. Google will determine when and how to publish and maintain these contributions; a structured collection doesn’t guarantee their display or a higher ranking.
